One of the largest events of the university’s social season took place last October 16 right after the Battling Bishops trounced Akron university’s football squad 19-7. The members of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity threw open their doors to the dads, mothers, and students of Ohio Wesleyan for a gala open house.
The special event was Dad’s Day, and the Beta’s gave out the old Wesleyan friendship with a capital “Friend”. With the rugs rolled up on the west side of the house, and Lou Conrad’s orchestra giving forth with their mellow music, parents of OWU students got a chance to enjoy a short glimpse of college social life.
Although it was not the only open house of the football season, the Betas were out standing because they were the only ones to have a band.
The guests were in and out in a continuous stream. It was estimated that over 300 visited the house that afternoon.
After the open house was over, the Betas had a buffet supper and party in honor of their parents.
