A Letter From the Editor . . .

This issue of The Theta Review was originally scheduled for publication on the first of June. However, the two men who were assisting your editor in writing the material were called into the Army before they had a chance to write more than four or five articles in this edition. Because of the heavy load of writing, proof reading, and […]

Looking to the Future…..

Our nation is now in a struggle for its existence. What the future holds in store, no one knows; but just because the future is dark is no reason for not making plans. To the Ohio Wesleyan campus in the past two years have come leaders of the churches, prominent laymen, and educators to hold two great conferences on the […]

New Chapter Room

Theta Chapter will move into its new chapter room at 26 East Winter Street on the first of August. The new rooms are located in a store next door to the Strand Theater. Finances

Theta Chapter closed the fiscal year from June, 1942 to June, 1943 with all bills paid, and over $300 in bank. Accounts receivable amount to about $400.

Bob Watson

All organizations have someone who is continually behind the scenes guiding the group along the proper paths. So it is with Theta Chapter. That man is the chapter’s financial adviser, Robert E. Watson, ’11. For many years, Bob has been devoting much of his time to the affairs of Theta Chapter, and its alumni-controlled House Company. It is his job to see […]

Gertie

One of the most loyal supporters of Theta Chapter is Mrs. Gertrude Heinlen, who was the cook at the Beta House for over four years. One of the reasons for Mrs. Hein  len’s enthusiastic support is her son, John, who was a member of the chapter in the class of ’37. She was affectionately known to the boys as “Gert”, and […]

Mrs. Mac

The biggest job around the Beta House, and the most thankless of tasks, is that of keeping the house clean. For the last nine years, Mrs. 0. D. McClain has had that responsibility, and she has done a fine job. “Mrs. Mac” arrives early every morning and starts in to clean up the mess that the fellows have left from the day […]

Mamma Linn

One of the really important parts of life at the Beta House at Ohio Wesleyan is Mrs. Linn. In the six years she has been housemother to the boys, she has contri  buted a great deal in the making of the men who have entered the Beta House. She has truly been a mother to all. Known to all the […]

Dean Joseph J. Somerville

One of the men Theta Chapter is deeply indebted to is Dean Joseph J. Somerville, De Pauw, ’12, the “Father Flanigan of Ohio Wesleyan’s Boy’s Town”. His sage advice and fatherly counsel have helped the chapter, both as a group and as individuals, over many of the rough milestones of college life. To those who do not […]
