Chapter President Update

By Jason Parker ‘96

The spring semester has proven to be 3 very exciting time for the Theta Chapter as we continue to move nearer to the Sisson Award. An impressive pledge clan, continued work with alumni, upcoming philanthropic events and greater campus involvement will continue to move us toward this goal.

On Sunday, April 2, 1995, 13 outstanding undergraduate men were initiated into the Theta Chapter, thanks in large part to Rush Chairman Paul Corto ’97 and Pledge Educator Korey Hinkle ’95. For the first time in over two years. Theta Chapter is expected to grow in size. University President Thomas B. Courtice, University of Pennsylvania ’65. was also initiated with the undergraduate pledges. After the initiation, a reception was held for President Courtice and the entire Ohio Wesleyan Greek community. Support for his initiation has been over Whelming. President Courtice’s ties with Ohio Wesleyan and the Theta Chapter span over 90 years. Courtice’s grandfather was Theta Chapter secretary and class president in 1905. Moreover,

it was his grandfather’s wish that President Courtice attend Ohio Wesleyan and presumably that he join the Theta Chapter.

The Theta Chapter has begun once again meeting regularly with our housing corporation in order to keep several projects  moving forward. Chief among these protects are the major renovations that we are planning for this house in the summer of 1995. Many structural  improvements are planned for the Beta house. Plans are also in the works to remodel the chapter room, among other improvements.

Theta Chapter is very grateful for several gifts that it received. Several missing initiation robes were replaced. In addition, we received a Sweetheart pin from 1916 and the pin of R. L. Buffington 1897. Again, we thank you for these treasures it’s great to have them in the house again. Such items can be returned at any time and are a great way to involve yourself again .Another way to involve yourself  is to visit or call We welcome any alumni at any time of the year
