DR. WINCHELL McK. CRAIG, 15, now a surgeon at. the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, writes that he was the first reserve doctor in the Navy to he promoted to the rank of Rtar Admiral at the end of the recent war.

Since his separation from the serivice in 1946, Admiral Craig has been retained in various capacities in the Navy and the Department of Defense. Since 1949, he writes, “I have been in Washington at least twice a month working in a “task force” for the Secretary of Defense . . . A group of doctors from all the services and reserve components have been reviewing the status of reserve medical officers to recommend changes relative to their duties and status. This is designed to increase the efficiency and make service with the various medical corps more desirable and useful.”

Continues Brother Craig, “I started the Craigs in Beta Theta Pi, altho my older brother was pledged and before he could be initiated he was asked to leave the University for a foolish prank.

“Following me was Maynard, cousin, and “Dutch” a brother.  Then Paul a cousin, Bob a brother, and David a cousin. The second generation went to Dennison and there Walter’s son Thomas and his brother Eli were initiated. A cous, in Joe followed. Among the in-laws are two good Betas who married my nieces.”
