The number one man on the Ohio Wesleyan Tennis team in 1942 was Beta Fred Johnson. After staying in the back ground for his first two years, Johnson forced himself to the top his junior year. In the other two years, he was not able to meet the competition of the Wesleyan star, Moon Zink.
Fred was not a consistant winner, but was a hard fighter and always made his opponents work for every point. He found that his six foot three stature and his two hundred some pounds was rather heavy to move arount the court. In spite of this, he was amazingly agile on his feet;
