Grover C. Cooper ’52

Grover C. Cooper, 76, passed away on February 6, 2007, at Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge, MD.

Born in Nashville, N.C. he attended high school in Washington D.C. and Georgetown University before graduating from OWU in 1952, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi serving as Chapter president during his senior year.

A member of Air Force ROTC, Grover served on active duty in the US and Japan from 1952-1954.When he returned home he went back to college at George Washington University where he received his law degree. He was a communications lawyer in Washington and was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court. In 1995, he retired as senior partner of Fisher, Wayland, Cooper, Leader and Zaragoza.

In 1956, Grover married Barbara Jean Simmons. Until 2000 they lived in Potomac, MD before moving to their large farm on the Chesapeake at Woolford. Grover was both an avid and accomplished hunter, fisherman and boater. In recent years, he authored several historical novels dealing in detail with early life on the Bay.

Grover is survived by his wife, three children, Douglas C. Cooper of Bethesda, MD, Carolyn Elisabeth McKenna and husband, Christopher of Urbana, MD, and Christopher C. Cooper and his wife, Stefanie Ann Cooper of Bethesda.
