Retired Clergyman James Allen Kestle ’24 has had an active and satisfying career as as Methodist clergyman. Since graduation he has been a minister for several congregations in ,Pennsylvania and Minnesota. He served as Director of the Methodist Hospital and Home for the Aged; The Methodist Hospital and Home for the Aged; The Methodist Training Center; Conference Historical Society and was on the Conference Board of Education, Pittsburgh Conference Board of Ministerial Training; Pittsburgh Conference Commission on Economic and Social Relations; Ailegheny County Council of Churches and Pennsylvania Council of Churches. He has also served on numerous boards and conferences in Eastern Pennsylvania and Minnesota. Brother Kestle was a radio preacher for more than fifteen years and received an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1939. He has travelled widely through Europe and the Near East and was a tour director to the Holy Lands and Europe in 1969, ’70, ’71 and ’72. He has also authored several pageants, plays and Poems for the Pittsburgh Conference, Lakeside Chautauqua Association Diamond Jubilee, National Methodist Stewardship Pageant; AliquiPPa City-wide Pageant and the Pennsylvania State Sunday School Convention Pageant.
James is a third generation Methodist Clergyman. He and his wife, the former Jane McKown, have two children. Their daughter Jane, is a nurse and the mother of three sons and their son William has three sons. The Kestle’s currently reside at 300 Walnut Avenue in Lakeside, OH.
