Jim Ginsburg ’66

Dear OWU Old-Timer Lacrosse Players, Beta Theta Pi Alumni, and Other Friends,

I just want to thank each and everyone one of you for coming to some or all of the events at the Fall Homecoming and the Athletic Hall of Fame Ceremonies. From the informal get-together at Hoggy’s (aka “The Brown Jug”), to the pre-football game luncheon, to the postgame scrimmage, the induction reception and ceremony, and finally the Saturday evening dinner, it was a great weekend.

I was extremely honored to receive the Hall of Fame induction, especially, knowing that I was the oldest by about 23 years to be honored. Luckily, I could still walk up to the stage! However, by far my greatest honor and memories were seeing all of you and finding out what has been going on with you over the last 40 years. The fact that you came from all over the country – West Coast, East Coast, and everywhere in between was really amazing.

I never expected such a large contingent back at OWU. Our group clearly had the largest cheering section at the induction ceremony! Seriously, I want to thank all of you again for going out of your way to come back to OWU for this event. It really was great to renew so many friendships after all these years.

For those 1966 graduates, remember we’ll have our 45th reunion in the spring of 2011. I’m also hopeful that we can arrange another lacrosse reunion. Two years ago, we held this event in the spring, the weekend of the team’s last home game.

Finally, I want to give special thanks to several people who without their assertive promotion and organizing efforts, this induction would not have taken place: Pete Lee ’65, Geoff Magrath ’66 and Jon Richards ’66. Also special thanks to Brenda DeWitt, Director of Alumni Relations, who was very helpful in assisting us in contacting lots of  alumni players and friends from the’60s.

Thanks again for being there at OWU. I hope we will stay in touch and see each in a shorter time than the next 40 years.

Best to everyone.   Gins
