Frederick K. Johnson, Beta from Ash land, climaxed an active college career at the mid-semester graduate exercises held in January.
Johnson entered Ohio Wesleyan in the fall of 1939, and immediately pledged Beta Theta Pi. He joined the Freshman Players, and was busy the entire year. His excellent characterization of a servant of Petruchio in the Shakespearian Festival production of “The Taming of the Shrew” that spring won the high praise of critics and audience. For his continued work in dramatics he was elected into Wesleyan
Players.
Besides his interest in dramtics, Johnson was active in musical organizations, and was initiated into Phi Mu Alpha, national men’s music honorary last spring. His sophomore year, he played in both marching and concert bands, and his deep bass voice stood out among the members of the Singer’s Club. During his senior year, Fred was elected president of the latter organization, and became a member of Ohio Wesleyan’s famous A Capella Choir.
The name of Fred Johnson ranked high on the campus as a political leader. For two years, he was instrumental in guiding the political party through those wide-open, anything-goes campaigns Wesleyan is noted for. Last year, his guidance ot Brent linger’s campaign for Athletic representa tive ended in a landslide victory.
In addition to these activities, Johnson found time for Freshman Bible Club, and to be number one man on the tennis team.
Fred is now in the Army Air Corps Material Command, stationed at Wright Field, Dayton.
