One of the really important parts of the life at the Beta house is Mrs. James Linn. Though-out the last eighteen years many Betas have passed through the halls of “Old Theta,” but one face has remained our housemother. In the years she has been housemother she has contributed much to the formation of their life. She truly has been a mother.
From September to June “Mama,” as she is affectionately called, is present at our social functions and radiant personality make her an ideal hostess. The formals and date nights would be lacking in grace and attractiveness if it were not for the presence of “Mama.” Her excellent knowledge of bridge makes her a wonderful partner, but she is more content to kibitz and give help when called upon. Such acts of friendliness have won her a place in the heart of the Betas. Her deep understanding of college men and their problems, plus her willingness to listen, make her more than a housemother.
“Mama” takes a genuine interest in fraternity affairs as evidenced by her active interest in the Theta Chapter Mother’s Club. When the Betas are victorious in athletics or campus elections there are few that are more happy than “Mama.”
Returning alumni immediately inquire about “Mama.” During their stay many happy moments are spent with her discussing pleasant memories which our alums have of their active Beta life. One of the warm experiences we will carry from our college life is the fond remembrances of “Mama.”
