By Brian Hill ’96, Alumni Chairman
The spring reunion went extremely well, with brother traveling from as far away as florida, Nevada and Arizona to attend. All told, more than 5O alumni and their families returned to campus for the weekend. We undergraduates were honoured to Meet brothers representative of all eras in our history and were pleased to have had this unique opportunity to observe that being a beta means friendship not only in our undergraduate days, but after graduation as well.
The weekend was highlighted by such traditional ceremonics as the recognition of our Fraternal fifties brothers and the passing of the loving cup. Also, we started a new tradition with the “Alumni Door.” This door, which’ located in the chapter room, will be signed by all alumni when they return to the house.
It is our hope that a spring reunion will become an annual event. We an attempting to establish stronger ties with our alumni, and this could be an important step toward that goal In fact, we arc already planning a reunion for next spring. We hope that 100-150 alumni will attend. If you arc interested in helping to encourage brothers from your period to attend. please contact meat 614-368-2660.
We would like to extend special thanks to a few brothers. Tom Tatham ’56 spent an extraordinary amount of time and effort to make this reunion a success. His work paid off by the large turnout of brothers from the ’50s era. We are also very grateful to Robert Lafferty ’28 and John “Red” Halliday ’29. Their memories and stories are invaluable to us. Under-graduates as well as alumni were inspired by their attendance.
