Risk Management Policy of Beta Theta Pi

The risk management policy of Beta Theta Pi includes, but it is not limited to, the following provisions which shall apply to all fraternity chapters, colonies and all levels of fraternity membership.

1. The possession, use and/or consumption of ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES by any fraternity member or guest while on chapter premises, during an official fraternity event. or in any situation sponsored or endorsed by the chapter must be compliance with all applicable laws of the state, province, county, city, university or other controlling governmental entity.

2. Abuse of the consumption of ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES, by any fraternity member or guest while on chapter premises, during an official fraternity event, or in any situation sponsored or endorsed by the chapter, shall be prohibited.

3. To accomplish the policies stated in one (1) and two (2) above, the following prohibitions are adopted but are not meant to be Inclusive:

A. No fraternity member, collectively, or Individually, shall purchase for, serve to, or sell alcoholic beverages to minors (i.e. those under legal “drinking age).

B. No alcoholic beverages may be purchased through the chapter treasury nor may no purchase of same for members or guests be undertaken or coordinated by any member In the name of or on behalf of the chapter.

C. No chapter may cosponsor or co-finance a function where alcohol purchased by any of the host chapters, groups or organizations.

4. The possession, sale and/or use of any ILLEGAL DRUGS or CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES at any chapter house, sponsored event or at any event an observer would associate with the fraternity, is strictly prohibited.

The General Fraternity has also reaffirmed its strict anti-hazing and sexual abuse policies.

Any chapter that does not obey these policies is subject to suspension of its charter by the General Fraternity. Any individual, undergraduate or alumnus who violates these policies personally assumes all liability for the consequences of the act. The fraternity insurance programs will not stand behind violators of any of these policies.
