Roger Herbert Norman, 65 of Lancaster, OH died Sunday, 23 September 2007, at Fairfield Medical Center from complications of a long illness. He was born in Haddon Heights, NJ.
Following graduation from Haddon Heights High School in 1960, he enrolled in college at Ohio Wesleyan University. At Ohio Wesleyan he met his wife, Carol and obtained a BA in Economics in 1964.
From there he continued his education at The Ohio State University, obtaining an MA in Economics in 1967 and his JD Cum Laude in 1969. He also served as a faculty member in Economics at OSU from 1967-70. He then joined his father-in-law’s legal practice and became a partner in the firm, Coultrap, Boltz, and Norman. Mr. Norman’s practice focused on Real Estate and Probate.
Roger was a member of the Order of the Coif, editor of the OSU Law Journal, Fairfield County Bar Associations, Ohio State Bar Association, Lancaster Sertoma Club, Rushcreek Grange, and First United Methodist Church.
He served on the faculty of Hocking Technical Institute teaching courses on law and banking. He was past president, vicepresident, and treasurer of the Fairfield County Bar Association, was awarded Republican of the year for Fairfield County in 1991 and was admitted to argue a case to the US Supreme Court in July of 1984.
His father, Hugo Norman, and his in-laws William and Helen Coultrap preceded Mr. Norman in death.
He is survived by his wife, Carol, of Lancaster, two sons, Andrew and his wife, Yeda of San Mateo, CA and Stephen Norman and wife, Beth, of Lancaster; one daughter, Capt. Christine Gentry and husband, Christopher, of San Angelo, TX; one grandchild, Jonas Norman of San Mateo, CA; his mother, Alice Louise Norman of Rome, ME; and his two sisters Sandra Corbett of Rome, ME, and Karen Norman of Levittown, NY.
