The Theta chapter of Beta sparked by the smooth play of Brothers Silvas, Pope and Boutan surprised the Intermural Softball league at O.W.U. in placing third with an 11-6 overall record. Brothers Banerjee, Sherman and P. Lee also contributed immensely by batting .601, .593 and .549, respectively.
In the annual I.M. Track Meet which was held recently at Shelby Stadium, Brothers Cochran, Loehr, McCready and swift independant 9.5 century man Carl Crum placed first in both the 880 and 440 relays. Brother “Bugg” Friend, still hampered by injuries achieved while playing varsity football, teamed with Brothers Arnold and Mack in the intermediate sprints and runs. Beta, as an overall team, placed third in overall point competition.
Brothers Gotlieb ’74 and Mark Lee ’74 blistered the local nine hole golf course in finishing second in the C.M.L Open golf championship.
Gotlieb, who took the honors as low medalist in the event, felt disappointed that he and Mark could not bring home the trophy to Beta house this year. Incidently, they were only “pushed” out by one stroke.
Finally, the Beta volleyball team is currently in first place and striving to take it all this spring. The Theta chapter can certainly be proud of their hard working men inspired by KAI.
