Swimming

Coach “Doc” Freeman’s swimming team started out the season with the best squad in recent years, but they were scuttled be for they had gotten a good chance to weigh anchors. This was due to inadequate trans  portation facilities caused by gasoline rationing, and a general need to curtail athletic expenses for econony’s sake.

Among the Wesleyan mermen were two Beta swimmers, Bill Freeman, sophomore back and breast stroke speedster, and Bob Crail, senior, who did all kinds of plan and fancy diving. If the swimming team had continued, these two would have been valuable members of the squad.
