Theta Actives Leave for The Armed Services

Although Theta Chapter had thirteen men in the Naval and Marine Reserves, a last minute check-up reveals that only seven of them will return to Ohio Wesleyan when the new Naval school opens here in July. The four Marine Reservists are all expected to be sent to Oberlin College Marine school, while two of the former V-1 men, now V-12, are being sent to the Illinois Institute of Technology, in Chicago.

Those who will be returning are: Howard Anderson, senior; Richard Gregg, junior; Chester Hanson, sophomore; Bob Harris, sophomore; James Williams, freshman; William Chanault, freshman; and Donald Smith, freshman.

Those in the Marine reserve are: Robert Best, senior; Charles Orway, junior; William Foster, junior; and William Anthony, junior.

The two Naval reservists going to Illi  nois Tech are Paul Bickel, sophomore, and Jack Pocock, freshman.

The Betas lost sixteen men to the Army this year and one to the Marine Corps. Six of the Army men were in the Enlisted Reserve Corps, while the others were drafted from time to time, enlisted in the Air Corps or the regular army.

Those in the E.R.C. were: Robert Brent-linger. senior: William Frecrnan. Robert Barr, Gail Donnalley, Juniors; and sophomores Dale Minton and Wayne Mcfarland. The Air Corps men were sophomores Robert Mauck and Hugh Troth.
The men who enlisted or went in the draft were: Charles Gatesman, Ray Megi  rian, Richard Johnson, James Jervin, Dan Slenker, Paul Powers, Robert Hunter, and Henry Briggs. Maurice Hollenbaugh enlisted in the Marines.

Graduating seniors Frederick Johnson and Joseph Newhard both were enlisted in the Air Corps, while Robert Crail and Paul Miller are subject to the draft.
