Theta chapter opened its musical year with the traditional “first night serenade” for the freshmen women. This, as ever, was a tremendous success.
This year has seen a complete reorganization of the entire music program of he chapter, and the results of this have been quite satisfying. One of the newer things around the chapter halls is the Beta band. This is a Dixieland Jazz combo which will soon make its first appearance.
Another outstanding facet of Beta music is the chapter quartet which made its debut at the annual homecoming banquet and was received enthusiastically by all who attended. The quartet, composed of brothers Bill Giffin, Charles Ecker, Meredith Hyatt and Dale Denny, has also appeared at several dessert parties.
The chapter song group, directed by Bill Giffin, gave a stirring winter serenade on December 10, for the women’s dormitories.
The small song group under the leadership of our new song leader, Meredith Hyatt, received third place in the hotly contested inter-fraternity sing.
Coming up on the agenda is the Sweetheart Serenade at the Spring Formal and Theta’s serenade for the dormitories Monnett Weekend.
We believe a singing fraternity is a good fraternity.
