Thomas P Stover ’57 (And wife, Sue Menke Stover ’57)

Thomas P Stover 57

Susann Stover, 77, passed away Thursday, Dec.. 19, 2013. Dr. Thomas P. Stover, 79, passed away Saturday, Dec.. 28, 2013. Both were long time residents and active community members in Euless, Texas, where they passed away peacefully. Sue Stover was born May 18, 1936, in Dayton, Ohio, to Dr. Maurice Bernard and Margaret Louise Menke.

Tom Stover was born Oct. 29, 1934, in Butler to Mr. Paul Byron and Ethel Dobbs Stover. Tom and Sue were married on Jan. 3, 1959, in Dayton, Ohio, moved to Texas in 1962, and settled in Euless, Texas, in 1970. They were active members of the various communities where they lived, including participation in charitable organizations and holding various board positions within the community. Both worked at the Northeast Campus of Tarrant County College (TCJC), where Tom served as dean of students and later interim president.

Sue was “almost perfect.” She loved to read, work crossword puzzles, and was known for her beautiful painting of wood cutouts, mostly of her favorite subject, Santa Claus. Tom “always had a song” to match his kind smile, infectious sense of humor, curious nature and unabashed love for his family.

Survivors include their daughter, Margaret “Meg” Susann Magruder and her husband, Jay, of Frisco, Texas; their favorite son, Paul Byron Stover and his wife, Sandra, of Roanoke, Va.; their grandsons, Zane and Nolan Stover; Sue’s sister, Margaret Kay Queen of Norman, Ill.; Tom’s sisters, Evelyn Ehrman Casey (William) of Zelienople, Pat McCafferty and Mary Lee Marten (Robert) of Butler, and Susan Lehman of Jupiter, Fla., and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom loved and adored them dearly.

Notes From The Brothers and Friends
Didn’t stay in touch with Tom after graduation but his life sounded full of family, friends, community and many happy years with his wife.

While these events are painful, it is the world God brought us into and takes us back when our time comes.
