Undergrads Appreciate Renovations

Alumni support inspires determination

By stuart Feldman ‘91

The fall semester started off on the right foot for theta chapter. When we arrived in September, we found that our house corporation had renovated our living room, dining room, television room, recreational room and women’s bathroom. Also, a fund-raiser was in progress that would pay for later renovations. Most other fraternity houses at Ohio Wesleyan have been renovated recently, so with the house looking as good as it does , the men of theta chapter felt confident about rush.

Scott Ellis ’91, the rush chairman, had many exciting events planned for the prospectives. In determining who received bids, we paid special attention to the prospectives’ grades and participation in activities while in high school. After a long two weeks of rush, 10 of the finest men pledged the house.

The active members of the house have already picked a community service project and have donated most of our community time to the Delaware county cultural arts center. Projects include yard work, moving furniture and painting. We would also like to help if they need assistance in the art classes taught to the young students of Delaware. In addition, some of our time will go to people in need, the salvation army and M.A.D.D.

The undergrads have been not only contributing to the community, but also Been strong on campus, either leading all other fraternities or finishing a close second out of twelve. “we feel most confident in heading the list for the fall of 1989,” says Scholarship chairman, Michael colson ’91.

Socially, theta chapter has never had a problem. We will be looking forward to the tom jones party, Miami tre-Ad and our formal this year.

As president, I am pleased to say that there are 32 quality undergrads dedicated to Beta Theta Pi. As you have read, they have not only dedicated themselves to social aspects, but also to other activities that will help them to become well-rounded.

We are looking forward to the remainder of the year. Keep you posted in the next newsletter.
