Ken was from Ravenswood, W.Va when coming to OWU and joining Theta Chapter of Beta Theta Pi.\u00a0 He was one of several brothers in his class of \u201955 who were outstanding students as they pursued studies in preparation of proceeding to a career in medicine.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

No obituary, other than the announcement of death, has been found to date.\u00a0 Below are items of interest over the years re: Ken and his contacts with the editor of Theta Data\u2026.They demonstrate insight into the man and included herein for that reason.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Ken remains close to the hearts and memories of his Beta brothers.\u00a0 It is our final tribute to this physically strong but gentle, kind man that we say \u201cBrother Ken, thank God you\u2019re a Beta and will always be in our memories\u201d.<\/p>\n

A<\/strong>LUMNI <\/strong>W<\/strong>EEKEND <\/strong>2000 <\/strong>A <\/strong>R<\/strong>EAL <\/strong>H<\/strong>IT<\/strong>! <\/strong><\/p>\n

At times it was cool and blustery, but in general the weather cooperated very nicely for the campus gathering known as Alumni Weekend 2000, held May 19-21.<\/p>\n

Class of \u201955 Betas attending included Bob Martin (Puerto Rico), Paul Nobls (Ohio), Bill Plavcan (Maryland), Dan Rich (Maryland) and Ken Rowley (New Mexico). Regrets had previ- ously been received from Jack Hahn (New Mexico) and Larry Linderer (Florida). Also on the scene were Maury Hollenbaugh \u201948 and Ben Graham \u201952. In the course of the weekend there were many opportunities to renew the bonds of \u201cunsullied friendship and unfaltering fidelity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Among the highlights of the weekend were the Parade of Classes with Tom Tatham \u201956 and Dick DeVos \u201954 on hand to encourage the \u201c1955 flag bearer,\u201d followed by the All-Alumni Luncheon in Branch Rickey Field House.<\/p>\n

Dan Rich, president of the Class of 1955, presided at the 45th Reunion banquet on Saturday evening in Bishop Welch Hall. He and Maribeth Amrhein Graham (wife of Ben Graham) shared reminiscences about OWU in the 1950s and how the world at large had changed since they were freshmen in the fall of \u201951.<\/p>\n

The preacher at the closing Convocation on Sunday morning in Gray Chapel was the Rev. Art Callandro \u201955, Senior Pastor of the Marble Collegiate Church in New York City, where Dr. Norman Vincent Peale \u201920, was the minister for so many years.<\/p>\n

As we departed Delaware on Sunday afternoon, we could all say \u201cThank God, I\u2019m an OWU Beta!\u201d<\/p>\n

WE CONTINUE TO FEEL THE WAKE <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

I write this especially for Betty Jo<\/p>\n

Because it is she I want to know<\/p>\n

That I too will miss Captain Bob<\/p>\n

And that as time passes it will not rob<\/p>\n

Favorite memories they will stay<\/p>\n

All those times we did play<\/p>\n

There he was number twenty five<\/p>\n

Leaving the body, his soul is alive<\/p>\n

His passing soul leaves such a wake<\/p>\n

While here an imprint he did make<\/p>\n

Knowing that one\u2019s greatest gift is just to be<\/p>\n

That\u2019s how he lived it for you and me<\/p>\n

When we meet with our God it\u2019s not how great<\/p>\n

That\u2019s not a requirement we have to relate<\/p>\n

So while he ascends to above<\/p>\n

We will remember him with love<\/p>\n

Laugh and the whole world laughs with you<\/p>\n

Try and write it down is hard to do<\/p>\n

My hat goes off to them who produce the Theta Data <\/em><\/p>\n

To do that consistently requires real Beta<\/p>\n

Oh how my heart it doth pine<\/p>\n

To pen for my brothers another line<\/p>\n

Oh how I would like to have such wit<\/p>\n

That would compel those brothers to quietly sit<\/p>\n

To laugh at what is lying ahead<\/p>\n

As I adjust the spectacles on my head<\/p>\n

Oh well I give up
\nSo once again pass the loving cup<\/p>\n

Oh Lord please let me rest my tiring head<\/p>\n
