T he first meeting of the reorganized board of the Alumni\u00a0Association of Theta Chapter of Beta Theta Pi took place\u00a0on Saturday, January 12, 2002, at OWU. The meeting\u00a0was attended by brothers Adachi \u201999, DeVos \u201954, Eickhoff \u201900,\u00a0England \u201901, Harris \u201958, Haskell \u201968, Tatham \u201956 and Underwood\u00a0\u201968. Brother Chuck Underwood \u201968 was elected president, and\u00a0Marty Haskell \u201968, secretary\/treasurer.<\/p>\n
The board formally adopted its mission as follows: \u201cThe mission of\u00a0the Theta Chapter House Company and Alumni Association of Theta Chapter of Beta Theta Pi is to maintain the spirit, communications and\u00a0relationships among the brotherhood of OWU\u2019s oldest fraternity and to\u00a0establish a foundation for future recolonization of Theta Chapter of Beta\u00a0Theta Pi.\u201d<\/p>\n
Programs to achieve these objectives, include the continued\u00a0publication of Theta Data and the development of a Web site\u00a0which will contain an alumni membership database, alumni news,\u00a0past issues of Theta Data, guest room and other elements of alumni\u00a0communications. More details will be released soon. Periodically,\u00a0reunions will be planned including special events such as the Fraternal \u201950s recognition programs.<\/p>\n
The subject of \u201crecolonization\u201d will continue to be on the\u00a0agenda of future meetings. Among considerations for any future\u00a0recolonization is the requirement to meet the standards of the\u00a0\u201cMen of Principle\u201d program of the General Fraternity. This\u00a0includes a requirement that\u00a0five alumni advisers be\u00a0available for close work and\u00a0oversight of the colony.\u00a0This subject will continue to be reviewed by the\u00a0Alumni Association trustees\u00a0with particular attention\u00a0given to the campus\u00a0environment, university interest, alumni support and student interest in a recolonization\u00a0effort.<\/p>\n
Funding for all of the Alumni Association programs will be\u00a0from dues collected from the generous contributions of its 800\u00a0members. The current treasury shows a balance of approximately\u00a0$2,000. Annual expenditures for its programs are approximately $6,000-$7,000 per year, with the support of an average of 100\u00a0alumni giving at an average of $70 each per year.<\/p>\n
The next meeting of the trustees is scheduled for noon,\u00a0Saturday, August 17, 2002, at the Hamilton-Williams Center.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
