Stark \u201936 \u2026his son Jim reports his passing on April 25,\u00a02001, in Dayton \u2026 at the age of 86 \u2026 when taken to the hospital, he was wrapped in his OWU athletic letter blanket which he always used\u00a0to keep warm \u2026 and next to his reading chair was the latest issue of \u00a0Theta Data and the OWU magazine.<\/p>\n<p>Although heavily recruited by Ohio State, Clovis came to Delaware in the fall of 1932 and where he became an outstanding basketball player at OWU. He became the first college player to score 30\u00a0points in one game in 1934 against Denison. OWU never lost a game in Edwards Gym during his time playing there\u2026.and never lost a\u00a0game to Ohio State, including defeating them when OSU was the champion of the Big Ten. He was elected to the OWU Athletic Hall of\u00a0Fame in both basketball and baseball. While playing for coach Detrick\u00a0at OWU, he earned All-Ohio and All-Buckeye honors for 3 consecutive years in basketball \u2026 he also played first base on the baseball\u00a0team, and with Branch Rickey looking on in the stands, he hit a home\u00a0run to beat OSU 17-11. To this day, his son Jim has that historic home\u00a0run ball.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by his wife of 61 years Thelma Wellbaum Stark,\u00a0and his two sons, Jim and Tim, both of Dayton.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Clovis E.
