He was a captain in the Army Medical\u00a0Corps in charge of the Polio Surgical and Rehabilitative Center at the\u00a0Army-Navy Hospital in Hot Springs, Ark. He practiced general\u00a0medicine for four years before starting his orthopedic surgical practice\u00a0in 1955 and founding Far Oaks Orthopedics, which he headed until\u00a0his retirement in 1983.<\/p>\n<p>William is survived by his wife, Jeanette; daughters, Marsha and\u00a0Cynthia; and sons, William and Douglas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>William J.
