{"id":1861,"date":"2002-02-13T15:57:31","date_gmt":"2002-02-13T15:57:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thetachapterbtp.org\/content\/?p=1861"},"modified":"2013-03-05T21:46:04","modified_gmt":"2013-03-05T21:46:04","slug":"jim-graham-51","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thetachapterbtp.org\/content\/jim-graham-51\/","title":{"rendered":"Jim Graham \u201951"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jim Graham \u201951 died in a one-car auto accident on May 20, 2001.\u00a0The accident occurred in Montana only a few miles from the site of an\u00a0accident that took the life of his son, Ben, 16 years earlier. Jim had\u00a0spent that day at The Ben, one of two golf tournaments held each year\u00a0in memory of this son who had been an All-American golfer for three\u00a0years in college.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly before leaving, Jim had told his three sons, who were with\u00a0him at the tournament, that this had been the happiest day of his life.\u00a0His reason was that two of his sons, Steve and John, had won The\u00a0Ben, Steve winning the amateur portion and John the professional.\u00a0John\u2019s victory was accomplished while breaking the course record by\u00a0two strokes with a 63.<\/p>\n<p>Jim was a 1951 pre-med graduate of Ohio Wesleyan. He then\u00a0completed doctoral studies in medicine at Ohio State Medical School. From there he interned in Long Beach California, served a tour in the\u00a0U.S. Army, completed a residency in Tacoma, Wash., and moved to \u00a0Libby, Mont., where he opened a general practice and raised his four\u00a0boys. After his boys were grown Jim left his practice in Libby and\u00a0joined a clinic in Corvallis, Ore. Then three years ago he retired.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by his 99-year-old mother Gladys (Dayton, Ohio),\u00a0his wife Judy (Corvallis), siblings Ben (Dayton, also a Beta at Ohio Wesleyan, class of 1952), Joan (Durham, N.H., Ohio Wesleyan, 1954),\u00a0and Ellen (Orient, Ohio), his sons Jim (Idaho Falls, Idaho), John (Idaho Falls), and Steve (Gaston, Ore.), Judy\u2019s son Leigh (Corvallis)\u00a0and seven grandchildren.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jim Graham \u201951 died in a one-car auto accident on May 20, 2001.\u00a0The accident occurred in Montana only a few miles from the site of an\u00a0accident that took the life of his son, Ben, 16 years earlier.
