With membership from the alumni of each active fraternity on\u00a0campus, plus the key undergraduate officers of each\u00a0chapter, the alumni IFC continues to provide a guidepost and\u00a0bridges to the University in many areas. Discussions concerning\u00a0housing contracts, insurance coverage (risk analysis), academic\u00a0performance, social behavior, rush activities, University support\u00a0and other areas of common interest are primary concerns of the\u00a0organization.<\/p>\n
Almost 50 percent of the eligible men and women at OWU are\u00a0active in one of the 12 fraternities and five sororities. The grade\u00a0point averages are typically above the University all-student\u00a0average. Overall University support under the guidance of\u00a0President Tom Courtice is very positive.<\/p>\n
Close coordination with the undergraduate IFC is a major\u00a0interest of the alumni. Undergrads face up to the problems such\u00a0as underage drinking and sexual harassment concerns that are\u00a0issues present on all campuses, regardless of whether students\u00a0belong to a Greek organization or not.<\/p>\n
Many young men coming on campus these days are still\u00a0attracted to the fraternity system. The goals of many national\u00a0fraternities and particularly Beta are set to make the experience a\u00a0total maturation process and character building opportunity in\u00a0concert with the University goals and rules.<\/p>\n
