Saturday, April 1, 2000 marked a grand reunion and celebration for approximately 100 undergrads, and their\u00a0dates, alumni and their wives, and our \u201cstars\u201d for the\u00a0day\u2026.. six freshmen who were initiated into the\u00a0chapter and 11 Fraternal Fifties recipients and their wives (or dates as the case may be!). The schedule for\u00a0the day was highlighted by a morning meeting of the\u00a0House Corporation, followed by the initiation ceremony bringing into the fold six young men who will\u00a0make considerable contributions to the chapter and OWU campus life. The ceremony was done in a\u00a0redecorated chapter room setting and was one of the\u00a0most moving ceremonies witnessed by many of the\u00a0attending alumni. Several commented that is was the\u00a0most memorable delivery of the ritual they had ever experienced. One of the best I ever witnessed, said\u00a0others, some of whom\u00a0had not been back to the chapter since their campus undergraduate days. New initiates are Martin J. Adams, Xenia, Ohio:\u00a0Jeremy A. Meade, Wayland, Mass.; William E. Mitchell II,\u00a0Walpole, Mass.; Edmond G.H. Gorges, Pittsford, N.Y.; Robert P.\u00a0Henderson, Alpeena, Mich.; and Matthew R. Rosenthal, Pittsford,\u00a0Vt. Congratulations to these new brothers.<\/p>\n
Not to be outdone by the initiation ceremony, the Fraternal\u00a0Fifties recognition of 11 alumni was equally well\u00a0done\u2026\u2026and touched the hearts of those recipients from\u00a0the classes of 52 and 53 who were recognized for their 50\u00a0year anniversary of their initiation. In attendance and\u00a0receiving their 50 year awards were brothers Ted Chaney\u00a0\u201953, Dick Davenport \u201953, Dick McClintock \u201953, Bob Neff \u201953
\nand Stan VanBuren \u201952.<\/p>\n
Recipients unable to attend were\u00a0Grover Cooper \u201952, Dave Dove \u201953,\u00a0Ed Lilly \u201953, Harry Mowry \u201953, Dale\u00a0Mussellman \u201952, and Bob Woolley \u201951,\u00a0each of whom were mailed their\u00a0awards and congratulatory letters.<\/p>\n
Following these events, the\u00a0chapter was turned into a festive affair\u00a0with a refreshment hour and a dinner\u00a0served with all the trimmings including table cloths, candles and\u00a0service fit for the event. To a man,\u00a0the alumni attending remarked at\u00a0what a wonderful day they had,\u00a0enjoying the hospitality of the day\u00a0and, more importantly, being refreshed with the knowledge that the\u00a0young men of Theta Chapter were\u00a0committed to the ideals of our\u00a0fraternity.<\/p>\n
