At times it was cool and blustery, but in general the weather\u00a0cooperated very nicely for the campus gathering known as\u00a0Alumni Weekend 2000, held May 19-21.<\/p>\n
Class of \u201955 Betas attending included Bob Martin (Puerto\u00a0Rico), Paul Nobls (Ohio), Bill Plavcan (Maryland), Dan Rich\u00a0(Maryland) and Ken Rowley (New Mexico). Regrets had previously been received from Jack Hahn (New Mexico) and Larry\u00a0Linderer (Florida). Also on the scene were Maury Hollenbaugh\u00a0\u201948 and Ben Graham \u201952. In the course of the weekend there\u00a0were many opportunities to renew the bonds of \u201cunsullied\u00a0friendship and unfaltering fidelity.\u201d<\/p>\n
Among the highlights of the weekend were the Parade of\u00a0Classes with Tom Tatham \u201956 and Dick DeVos \u201954 on hand to\u00a0encourage the \u201c1955 flag bearer,\u201d followed by the All-Alumni\u00a0Luncheon in Branch Rickey Field House.<\/p>\n
Dan Rich, president of the Class of 1955, presided at the 45th\u00a0Reunion banquet on Saturday evening in Bishop Welch Hall. He\u00a0and Maribeth Amrheln Graham (wife of Ben Graham) shared\u00a0reminiscences about OWU in the 1950s and how the world at\u00a0large had changed since they were freshmen in the fall of \u201951.\u00a0The preacher at the closing Convocation on Sunday morning\u00a0in Gray Chapel was the Rev. Art Callandro \u201955, Senior Pastor of\u00a0the Marble Collegiate Church in New York City, where Dr.\u00a0Norman Vincent Peale \u201920, was the minister for so many years.\u00a0As we departed Delaware on Sunday afternoon, we could all\u00a0say \u201cThank God, I\u2019m an OWU Beta!\u201d<\/p>\n
