{"id":2366,"date":"1981-02-23T16:33:57","date_gmt":"1981-02-23T16:33:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thetachapterbtp.org\/content\/?p=2366"},"modified":"2013-03-10T17:14:39","modified_gmt":"2013-03-10T17:14:39","slug":"fratenities-aid-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thetachapterbtp.org\/content\/fratenities-aid-success\/","title":{"rendered":"Fratenities Aid Success"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From College Press service<\/p>\n<p>Fraternity life may not be like &#8220;Animal House&#8217; after all.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, joining a fraternity just may be the best way to study and insure graduation, according to morris Lemay, director of Oregon State University&#8217;s Counseling and Testing Center.<\/p>\n<p>Lemay recently completed a study at that campus which shows that 54 per-cent of the freshmen who joined fraternities in 1974 graduated, while OnlY 44 percent of non-fraternity freshmen received their degrees.<\/p>\n<p>Lemay is not quite sure what causes He discrepancy. but speculates it may be the close personal ties usually developed between students at fraternities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Students pledging to fraternities tend to begin having good friendship earlier than most people,&#8221; Lemay says. &#8220;These friends they quickly make help them get over early rough spots as far as studying is concerned.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From College Press service Fraternity life may not be like &#8220;Animal House&#8217; after all.
