David E. Tilton ’47 is president of\u00a0The Columbus Forge and Iron Co.\u00a0“Dave” was in the military form 1942-46 and was in the Air Force Reserves\u00a0from 1951-55. He is a member of the\u00a0King Avenue United Methodist\u00a0Church, the American Ordinance\u00a0Society, the American Society for\u00a0Metals, the Columbus Chamber of\u00a0Commerce, the Goodwill Industries of\u00a0Columbus and Central Ohio, the\u00a0Athletic Club of Columbus, the\u00a0Faculty Club and the Presidents Club\u00a0of the Ohio State University.<\/p>\n
In 1968 Ohio State University and\u00a0David established the nation’s first\u00a0professorship in mechanical metallurgy\u00a0which bears the name of David’s father, Earl M. Tilton. David\u00a0is active in the United Appeal Campaigns,\u00a0the Kiwanis and rehabilitation\u00a0of parolees. He also serves on the Noise Task Force, the\u00a0Virbration Task Force -and the\u00a0Forging Industry Assoc. Wage and\u00a0Employment Committee. During the\u00a0last 24 years, David has negotiated his\u00a0company’s contracts with two unions\u00a0and has never had a strike.
