In 1948, he joined Security\u00a0Mutual Life Insurance at their home\u00a0office as manager of group sales. He\u00a0moved up to assistant superintendent of agencies and then director of sales.\u00a0Bob returned to Business Men&#8217;s\u00a0Assurance in 1953 as assistant\u00a0manager in Ohio and was named manager in 1954. In 1961, he became\u00a0vice president in charge of agencies\u00a0for Security Mutual. He was elected to\u00a0the Board of Directors, elected\u00a0executive vice president, then\u00a0president, and finally chief executive\u00a0officer in 1972.
