Fall term proved to be one of the most\u00a0successful terms Theta chapter has\u00a0seen in many years. As many of you\u00a0know Theta chapter liad beeii in the\u00a0midst of a membership drought which\u00a0was compounded by many actives\u00a0and pledges not returning to school.\u00a0This fall we pledged 23 men who all\u00a0seem to have the spirit and desire to\u00a0not only continue the fraternity\u00a0tradition, but also to strengthen it here at OWU.<\/p>\n
Not only did membership improve,\u00a0but the house itself received some\u00a0much needed attention. The dining\u00a0room was redone, while the barroom\u00a0was finally made into a functional\u00a0social area, rather than a dark backroom\u00a0bar. Unfortunately, the porch\u00a0we reported was to be built this\u00a0summer, was never completed due to\u00a0the lack of a suitable contractor.\u00a0Hopefully the University will be able\u00a0to locate one his summer.<\/p>\n
We are all very grateful for the increased\u00a0alumni support and involvement.\u00a0Unfortunately the chapter\u00a0rnanagernent of this newsletter slacked off and we are therefore late\u00a0with this issue of Theta Data. In order\u00a0to correct this\u00a0situation, we have\u00a0formed an office to be in charge of this\u00a0publication and we will be publishing\u00a0an issue at the end of each term.<\/p>\n
Your response to the directory has\u00a0also been substantial. We feel that\u00a0the directory will be a great service to\u00a0all Theta brothers, and hope that all\u00a0have returned the information sheets\u00a0and addresses. If you haven’t please\u00a0do so quickly. Your support of the\u00a0directory and Theta Data is greatly\u00a0needed and appreciated.<\/p>\n
Homecoming brought many actives\u00a0and alums together for an exciting\u00a0evening of reminiscing. This term we\u00a0expect an even larger turnout for\u00a0initiation. Its not only great fun for\u00a0all, but it gives the alums a chance to\u00a0meet the present chapter and for the\u00a0chapter to get a sense of how it used to\u00a0be.<\/p>\n
Overall fall term rejuvenated the\u00a0whole fraternity at Theta Chapter.\u00a0Membership is strong and with\u00a0continued alumni support, should remain strong. I hope that any of the\u00a0brothers who haven’t returned to the\u00a0house will make an earnest effort to\u00a0become re-acquainted with the house.\u00a0To\u00a0quite\u00a0something have heard at every\u00a0Beta convention I’ve attended,\u00a0“Beta Theta Pi is more than a four year experience.”<\/p>\n
