This year’s pledge class is large and\u00a0widely diversified, but is striving for a\u00a0common goal, the improvement of the\u00a0fraternity. Due to the large number of\u00a0pledges (20) it would seem unlikely\u00a0that a group of this size could knit\u00a0such a strong bond of friendship in so\u00a0short a time. Our pledge class has\u00a0done just that, and by overcoming this\u00a0hurdle it is fast becoming a vital part\u00a0of the Beta Chapter at Ohio Wesleyan.\u00a0As a result of the small number of\u00a0pledges taken last year, Beta has\u00a0seen hard times. This year we hope to\u00a0reverse this trend, putting Beta in its\u00a0original position of strength on the\u00a0hill. This can only be accomplished if\u00a0the actives and pledges coordinate\u00a0together, in an attempt to better the\u00a0house.<\/p>\n
Like most pledge classes, we expect\u00a0to make Beta a more pleasant place to\u00a0live. However, the class of ’77 does not\u00a0plan to be all talk and no action. We\u00a0hope to put in the much needed patio\u00a0in the rear of the house. We are still\u00a0short of funds, but in the near future we hope to have the necessary money.\u00a0Our next goal involves the partial\u00a0renovation of the house. We plan to\u00a0replace some of the existing carpets,\u00a0furniture, and curtains, making it\u00a0more appealing not only for future\u00a0pledges, but also for the alums of our\u00a0chapter. So I encourage any alums to\u00a0visit the house.<\/p>\n
In closing, the class of ’77 is very\u00a0much looking forward to becoming an\u00a0active part o f Beta Theta Pi. We hope\u00a0to remain a close unit and to make\u00a0Beta the best house on the hill at Ohio\u00a0Wesleyan.<\/p>\n
