The fall intramural season was one\u00a0of the best in recent years for Theta\u00a0chapter, though it ended in bitter\u00a0disappointment. The football team,\u00a0having shutout all but one opponent\u00a0and winning the divisional championship\u00a0was disqualified before the\u00a0championship game due to an\u00a0ineligible player. A team the Betas\u00a0defeated subsequently won the league\u00a0crown.<\/p>\n
The volleyball team also met with\u00a0considerable success, going undefeated\u00a0until the divisional championship\u00a0game when they lost a hard fought\u00a0match to the eventual league\u00a0champions.<\/p>\n
The Betas were also well represented\u00a0in varsity sports this fall\u00a0though\u00a0lacrosse\u00a0in the spring remains\u00a0as the Beta dominated sport. Brother\u00a0Bill Bouton led the soccer team to the\u00a0Ohio conference crown. He was the\u00a0top goal scorer on the team and was\u00a0elected by his teammates to cocaptain\u00a0next years squad.<\/p>\n
Three Beta pledges saw action on\u00a0the OWU football team. They were\u00a0Brian Welch, Tad Arnold, and Bernard\u00a0“Buzz” Friend. Brothers Rick Vince, starting tackle for the Bishop\u00a0varsity, was sidelined this season\u00a0with a knee injury.<\/p>\n
The winter intramural scene looks\u00a0equally bright for Theta chapter. The\u00a0bowlers, having all returned after\u00a0narrowly losing out in the championship\u00a0match last year fully expect \u00a0to go all the way this season.
