Our nation is now in a struggle for its existence. What the\u00a0future holds in store, no one knows; but just because the future\u00a0is dark is no reason for not making plans. To the Ohio Wesleyan\u00a0campus in the past two years have come leaders of the churches,\u00a0prominent laymen, and educators to hold two great conferences\u00a0on the Christian Basis of a World Peace, and post-war recon \u00a0struction. These men know that they are not wasting their time\u00a0making plans for years to come, when the future seems so far\u00a0off. They know that now is the time to make plans, if we are to\u00a0have a peace which will fulfill the desire of men throughout the\u00a0ages. The dream of a world forever at peace, where war is a\u00a0horrible thing that happens in the “Dark Ages”.<\/p>\n
What has this got to do with Beta Theta Pi, and Theta\u00a0chapter? Simply this. When the war is over there are going to\u00a0be some changes made in our social, our economic, and our political life. There are bound to be. If one listens closely, he can hear\u00a0their rumblings. Now is the time for Beta Theta Pi and Theta\u00a0chapter to make plans for the future. Now is the time to plan\u00a0the readjustments which will be so vital to the fraternity after\u00a0the peace is signed.<\/p>\n
If we are going to exist, We must be able to adjust to the\u00a0changes in education. Be ready for the possibility of government\u00a0sending men back to college, for the inevitable social “leveling”\u00a0which is bound to take place.<\/p>\n
We do not have to change our ideals. They are the secret\u00a0of success no matter what kind of society you have. Perhaps \u00a0we should pay more attention to them. What we will have to\u00a0change is our methods.<\/p>\n
Assuming that we plan to do this, who is going to do it?\u00a0Certainly we cannot leave such a huge task to the Board of Trustees. No, it is up to the members themselves. They will have\u00a0to do the majority of the work. Certainly, the trustees should\u00a0assume leadership, but just because they have assumed leadership,\u00a0does not mean that they must carry the burden alone. Every\u00a0member should feel it his duty to take part in it. The brothers\u00a0who are serving with our armed forces will be some what restricted in the amount of help they can give, so that leaves it to\u00a0the brothers on the home front to carry on. Every member should\u00a0consider it his duty to see that Beta Theta Pi is fully prepared\u00a0to resume the leadership in the post-war world, as it had in the\u00a0pre-war world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
