The\u00a0university expected about 100 freshmen,\u00a0mostly men, to enter at that time, since\u00a0most Ohio high schools were allowing seniors to come to college after completing\u00a0half of their senior year. They would be\u00a0given their diplomas at the completion of\u00a0the first semester in college.<\/p>\n<p>However, there were only 60 men who\u00a0took advantage of the opportunity. The\u00a0Betas started rushing with the same enthusiasm that characterized fall rushing.<\/p>\n<p>In the three day period, Theta chapter\u00a0pledged five freshmen, and, in addition,\u00a0several Delaware high school boys who will\u00a0be coming to school next year. The five\u00a0pledges gave the Betas the third largest\u00a0class on the campus again.<\/p>\n<p>The freshmen were: Jack Pocock, Dela \u00a0ware; Donald Smith, Columbus: William\u00a0Chcnault, De Graff; James Williams and\u00a0Victor Medley, Newcomerstown.\u00a0The Delaware high pledges are: Hal\u00a0Fausnaugh, Dexter Rayle, James Johnson,\u00a0and Al Long.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Due to Ohio Wesleyan&#8217;s accelerated program, fraternities here held a rush week\u00a0between semester for the first time.
