In a hotly contested race, Robert W.\u00a0Brentlinger, Beta junior from Lima, defeated Phi Gam Bruce McKinnon for the of \u00a0fice of Athletic Representative last spring.\u00a0One of the few candidates of the “United\u00a0for Service” party to be elected, Brent-\u00a0linger won by a vote of 806 \u2022 429 and\u00a0carried all four classes by a large majority.<\/p>\n
Brentlinger’s first bid for a Student\u00a0Council post was in 1941 when he ran for\u00a0Sophomore class president. He was defeated by six votes in a three candidate election.<\/p>\n
He assumed his duties as athletic repre sentative this fall, and since elections have\u00a0been postponed until next semester, will continue in that capacity until the new in \u00a0cumbent is elected. The duties are to act\u00a0as the student body representative to the Athletic Board and carry out liason activities between that group and the student\u00a0council.<\/p>\n
Brentlinger entered Ohio Wesleyan in\u00a0the fall of 1940, and pledged Beta Theta\u00a0Pi immediately. Since then, he has be \u00a0come one of the most prominent men on\u00a0the campus.\u00a0A business administration major, he is a\u00a0member of the Freshman Bible Club, a district chairman of the Century Club, and\u00a0member of the “NV” Clan. His main efforts are directed toward the-sports field,\u00a0where he has already earned three fresh \u00a0man numerals and six varsity letters in\u00a0football, basketball, track, and tennis.<\/p>\n
“Brent”, as he is known to his fraternity\u00a0brothers, has been very active in chapter\u00a0affairs. He has held several offices, in-chiding vice-president, and is at present\u00a0guiding Theta Chapter as its chief executive\u00a0officer.
