On November 12, 1942, two Beta fresh men, playing on the Ohio Wesleyan Re \u00a0serve Squad, handed Ohio University frosh
\na 20-14 trouncing. Packy McFarland and\u00a0his roommate, Dale Minton, scored the\u00a0three touchdowns, leaving the two points
\non the kicks to the toe of A.T.O. Bruce\u00a0Heisler.<\/p>\n
McFarland scored the first six points on\u00a0a pass from Benbow. Minton received the\u00a0kickoff at the start of the second half, and
\nromped 102 yards for the second touch \u00a0down. McFarland scored the third on a\u00a0twenty five yard run.<\/p>\n
In the return game played in Delaware,\u00a0these two were equally outstanding. Mc \u00a0Farland plays the quarterback position, and
\nhas proven himself an excellent field general. Minton is a half back who has\u00a0shown exceptional ability.<\/p>\n
In addition to these two, the Betas have\u00a0Paul Bickel, Bob Hunter, Hugh Troth, and\u00a0Bob Mauck on the roster of freshman foot
\nballers.<\/p>\n
This year, freshman were eligible to play\u00a0in varsity competition, and all of them gave\u00a0excellent accounts of themeselves on the
