This was due to inadequate trans \u00a0portation facilities caused by gasoline rationing, and a general need to curtail athletic expenses for econony&#8217;s sake.<\/p>\n<p>Among the Wesleyan mermen were two\u00a0Beta swimmers, Bill Freeman, sophomore\u00a0back and breast stroke speedster, and Bob\u00a0Crail, senior, who did all kinds of plan and\u00a0fancy diving.
