In ordinary times the Betas put on\u00a0starched-front shirts and bow ties three\u00a0,times a year and go dancing with their best\u00a0girls at the Beta formals. This year, how \u00a0ever, was not an ordinary year, and the\u00a0Miami Triad had to be cancelled. The\u00a0winter and spring were held as usual, along with the traditional Pledge\u00a0Formal.<\/p>\n
The Pledge Formal opened the season on\u00a0October 30th. Since that night was Hal \u00a0loween ,the decorations for the annual dinner-dance were in the witches and goblin\u00a0mode. As in other years, the actives waited\u00a0table, and after dinner there was dancing\u00a0to the finest bands in the land, by record \u00a0ing. Maurice Hollenbaugh was the social\u00a0chairman.<\/p>\n
On the Saturday night before Christmas\u00a0vacation was the big event of the winter\u00a0social season, the Winter Formal. In past,\u00a0the dance has been held in one of the gyms\u00a0around town. This year, it was held at\u00a0the house. The decorations were based on\u00a0indirect colored lighting, and was very effective. Music was furnished by Happy\u00a0Heffner and his orchestra, from Columbus.\u00a0Social chairman was Bob Crail.<\/p>\n
The Miami Triad ordinarily is the next\u00a0dance to be scheduled. After a meeting\u00a0of the social chairmen of the Betas, the Phi\u00a0Delts, and the Sigma Chis, it was decided\u00a0that, due to war conditions and the diffi \u00a0culties and expense of securing a band, it\u00a0would be best not to hold the Triad this\u00a0year.<\/p>\n
The Spring Formal was held at St.\u00a0-Miffs gym with the Alpha Tau Omegas,\u00a0and the Chi Phis. Music was by Larry\u00a0Stemler, and the decorations were very\u00a0simple and again based on the lighting effects. The social chairman was Don
\nSlen ker.<\/p>\n
This year the chapter found that it was\u00a0not necessary to have elaborated decorations\u00a0to have a good formal, and at the same time cooperated in the conservation of materials\u00a0and saved money.
