No longer does the basement of\u00a039 West Lincoln Street resemble\u00a0the Black Hole of Calcutta!<\/p>\n
The new “lower level” no longer is called the cellar, for the undergraduate chapter succeeded in\u00a0giving it a much-needed face lifting.<\/p>\n
One of the last steps taken last\u00a0spring by the chapter was to vote\u00a0that each member at school donate\u00a0Five (5) dollars from money earned during the summer months\u00a0towards funds to rejuvenate this\u00a0part of the house.<\/p>\n
A Delaware contractor stopped\u00a0water seepage in the basement\u00a0rooms and then the undergraduates rolled up their sleeves to be gin painting and touching up. The\u00a0former recreation room (now called the west lounge if you please)\u00a0was repainted in blue and pink.<\/p>\n
The ceiling was done in a soft rose\u00a0and the walls were finished in a\u00a0starlight blue. The floor was paint\u00a0ed a utilitarian gray with the fire place a brick red.<\/p>\n
Furnishings for the room were\u00a0found by visiting auctions and\u00a0various rooms of the house. During the summer, the chapter wrote to many famous Betas for auto\u00a0graphed pictures to be placed in\u00a0the room. Almost all of these loyal\u00a0brothers responded and the resulting hall of fame had great effect\u00a0during Rush Week.<\/p>\n
The hallway was whitewashed\u00a0by chapter Tom Sawyers and a\u00a0plaster board ceiling gave a much\u00a0needed lift. The back room was painted green and the ping pong\u00a0table placed there.<\/p>\n
All in all, the chapter is proud\u00a0of the new look given the basement and is anxious to have your\u00a0,comments during Homecoming!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
