The past semester has seen a great deal of growth of Beta and the men of the chapter. Eight young \u00a0men \u00a0have Joined our ranks and with their addition, the house will reach near capacity for the first time since any Of us have been here. Our numbers will also place us among the top third on the Hill in terms of membership, a position that bodes well \u00a0for the house and is a testament to the last two years of hard work by the undergraduate and alumni members. In addition, Theta has elected the officers who \u00a0will lead our chapter during the 1997-98 school year, \u00a0and while there are some familiar names on the new executive council, the number of current \u00a0sophomores is up to three. We’re looking forward to a great semester, since enthusiasm and strong leadership qualities \u00a0among the sophomores has proven itself a formula for success for Theta chapter in the past .<\/p>\n

We have been quite busy the past semester. Philanthropy Chair Matt \u00a0Garrison ’99 dedicated \u00a0the chapter to the local People in Need {PIN) organization and we spent many hours assisting them feed the needy of Delaware County. We were proud to sponsor and attend a round table forum on the topic of men’s \u00a0involvement with women’s issues for Ohio Wesleyan’s \u00a0Women’s Week.<\/p>\n

During spring break, 11 brothers \u00a0travelled south to accept the imitation of Lee Szambecki ’98 to stay at his parents’ home on Captiva \u00a0Island in Florida. We also managed to find time to hop across \u00a0the state to visit Don Adams ’66 for a day of boating in Fort \u00a0Lauderdale and dinner in Miami. Thanks to both for your gracious hospitality.<\/p>\n

As always, Beta \u00a0was \u00a0active on the \u00a0athletic field. This spring we boast three varsity baseball players, a captain and \u00a0two other members of the lacrosse team, two track stars, volleyball \u00a0and rugby players and a good \u00a0portion of the sailing team, including the captain.<\/p>\n

Theta \u00a0wishes the best of luck to our two departing \u00a0seniors: we thank you for helping to cultivate a house as strong as any on the Hill, a house that I am proud to lead and one that should make everyone, undergraduates and alumni alike, proud to be a Beta!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
