The parents of Lee Szambecki ’98 allowed us to stay at their beautiful home on the Island. We spent much of the time fishing, swimming with the dolphins in the Gulf of Mexico, and relaxing in 80-plus degree setting. Another popular activity was eating at the Cheeburger restaurant and seeing who could finish the one-pound hamburger. Those who did got their picture taken and placed on the wall of fame at the restaurant.

We also took a trip across Florida to Fort Lauderdale, where Don Adams ’66 put us up for a night. He took all of us Out on his boat the first day, taking us down to Miami for dinner and stopping along the way to take a swim in the Atlantic Ocean. The next day, he took some of us out on the boat again to fish, while the rest went to a Baltimore Orioles exhibition baseball game. It was a great experience to share Beta stories that made us realize that even three decades later, some thing never change. In addition, since DON is a tour guide, we learned many interesting facts about the various cities we passed on the coast.

Despite a couple of Cases of sun poisoning, we all had a fabulous time in Florida It was a welcome change oh scenery for a week, but the harsh reality of Delaware and its cold temperatures set in as returned. Special thank to the Szambeckis and Don Adams for their hospitality and generosity. We are also very thankful that our trips, (20 hours from Delaware to Captiva, three hours from Captiva to Fort Lauderdale) went without incident and that we returned to Ohio Wesleyan sately. We can’t wait until next spring!

By Brad Chelton ‘ 98 Eleven Beta undergraduates spent the week of spring break in Captiva Island, Fla.
