On February I 3. 1995, In Dayton. Ohio, Donald R. Wedge \u201851, was recognized for his lifetime achievement in sports at the noon luncheon meeting\u00a0 the Dayton Agonis Club and at the Annual Recognition Dinner for the 1995 Ohio Professional and Amateur Athlete of the Year. Brother Wedge was one of six \u00a0men recognized and awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award.<\/p>\n

Don carne to Ohio Wesleyan from Carey. Ohio, where he excelled in several sports and received Ohio \u00a0All-State recognition for his accomplishments in both basketball and football. While at OWU. Don stirred in football for coach Fraser, setting several records; some are still standing. Including most touchdowns (5) in a single game 15 touchdowns in one season.<\/p>\n

Don recently completed his 23rd season as an official in the National Football League. His successful \u00a0NFL career has featured 20 postseason games,, including Super Bowl\u00a0 xx11 in 1988. After officiating high school football and basketball in Ohio. Kentucky and West Virginia for 15 years, Wedge moved on to the collegiate level in 1956 in both sports. Among the conference-s that employed Wedge were the Big Ten, the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Southeastern Conference. His work included the 970 Rose Bowl and the NCAA basketball \u00a0tournament.<\/p>\n

Wedge has worked since 1987 as an account manager for the Miller-Valentine Group in Dayton. He is a longtime supporter of Theta Chapter and an active. participating member of the Theta House Company.<\/p>\n
